There are 3 places to changes your settings:

  2. in the “Preferences” section, click on the arrow to the left to expand the section (if it isn’t open already)

  3. for “Email digest type” select either

    1. Complete (daily email with full posts)

    2. or Subjects (daily email with subjects only)

    3. DO NOT choose No digest (single email per forum post) as this puts too heavy a load on our email server

    4. if you click on the question mark there, it will provide more explanation

    1. you may want to check/uncheck other options - but if you uncheck them, remember that you’ll have to log in to check these items

    2. scroll down to the bottom and click on the button to “Update profile” to save

  1. Change your subscription choices for individual forums

    1. you will need to do this for each module in which you are enrolled

    2. go to the main course page for the module

    3. in the Activities block on the upper left, click on Forums

Forums.png

  1. You will see a list of all forums for that module, with

    1. title

    2. description

    3. # of discussions

    4. # of unread posts

    5. button to track this forum - yes or no

    6. button to subscribe to the forum - yes or no

      1. some forums are required, so no choice button

    7. email digest type - that’s what we’re aiming for

  2. Under Email digest type, for each individual forum, the current choice is displayed, with arrows next to it

    1. click on the arrows to see a drop-down menu of alternate choices

    2. usually this will show the default that you set in your profile preferences in the first step

    3. however, you may have changed this setting for an individual module

  3. as in the first step, please select

    1. Complete (daily email with full posts)

    2. or Subjects (daily email with subjects only)

    3. DO NOT choose No digest (single email per forum post) as this puts too heavy a load on our email server

  1. check all forums within this list to make sure you agree with the settings

  2. repeat this step for each module in which you are enrolled

That should do it!

If you’ve changed all your settings to Complete (daily email with full posts) or Subjects (daily email with subjects only), then from now on you should only get one post per day from the Moodle (in the past it has been around 5pm Eastern time).

If you find that you’re still getting individual posts throughout the day, and you don’t want to, then you need to double check these settings and find which forum is set for “No digest (single email per forum post)” and reset it.

If, on the other hand, you’re not even getting the daily digest, please contact us and let us know. If you notice that you haven’t received your digest, you should log in to the Moodle and check your forums from there, until any technical difficulties are resolved.
