BIPOC Become Librarians Project
San José State University’s Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library (SJSU King Library), San José State University’s School of Information (SJSU iSchool), and San José Public Library (SJPL) will collaborate to establish BIPOC Become Librarians (BBL), a pilot mentorship and internship program that will introduce undergraduate students who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) to careers in Library and Information Science (LIS).
Pathways to Librarianship
Pathways is a joint-project between the New York Library Association (NYLA) and the Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool) which seeks to build a foundational understanding of barriers that people of marginalized identities (BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, people with disabilities, etc.) face in the library profession in order to develop and pilot meaningful innovations across state and local systems.

Application forms often say "preferred name".. Change this to "name you go by". So "Legal Name” and “Name you Go by”.

We want to avoid using preferred, - saying preferred name or preferred pronouns - because they’re not preferred they just are.
