History Unbound: Cortland County

This collection contains a sampling from the thousands of Brockway Motor Truck Co. slides, photographs and negatives.

In the late 1980s, New York State considered Cortland County for a new low-level radioactive waste (LLRW) dump. Local residents protested and ultimately, there was no dump.

Personal friend and secretary to NYS Governor Grover Cleveland. After Cleveland was elected President of the United States, Lamont was appointed his Secretary of War and close confidant.

One of the nation's first institutes of higher education to accept students with no consideration to race or gender was open from 1849 to 1860.

This collection shares numerous stories from those living within Cortland County as well as those working or studying at the State University of New York College at Cortland. It primarily includes audio recordings and digitized scrapbooks.
