OverDrive: Public Library Connect: Home

An overview of the Public Library Connect feature in OverDrive.

The Finger Lakes Library System joined OverDrive's Public Library CONNECT program in 2022.  Public Library CONNECT enables students in our community to borrow age-appropriate* ebooks and audiobooks from both their school and public library's digital collections using Sora, the student reading app  from OverDrive.

School districts and/or BOCES must opt in in order for students to access the FLLS OverDrive collection with their Sora accounts. Interested schools should contact their OverDrive representatives.

*Maturity levels are determined by publishers.  The Finger Lakes Library System and OverDrive do not determine these levels.  School districts, systems, and/or BOCES who opt into Public Library CONNECT decide content access levels for students who use their Sora account to borrow materials from the Finger Lakes Library System digital collection.

The Finger Lakes Library System's OverDrive collection is curated in accordance with our Collection Development Policy.

Circulation Statistics

The Finger Lakes Library System tracks monthly circulation statistics from OverDrive.  If your library has a school in its service area that is using Public Library Connect, you may count those circulations.  For public libraries that share school districts, please divide the number of circulations accordingly.

You can find school district checkouts on our monthly OverDrive reporting at https://www.flls.org/computer-network-services/web-stats/.  Click on the month to bring up the bar graph.  School district checkout statistics are located towards the bottom of the bar graph.

Partner Schools/Districts/BOCES

Note that only the district in the first column has access, not the whole BOCES as other districts in the BOCES likely fall outside of the Finger Lakes Library System's service area.

List current as of October 9, 2024.

This project is administered by the South Central Regional Library Council.
